Guild Con is a security-focused conference where privacy and consent are paramount. Many attendees work in sensitive positions. Please respect everyone's privacy and follow these guidelines.

General Policy

By attending Guild Con 2025, you acknowledge that:

  • Official event photographers may be present
  • You may appear in event photos used for promotional purposes
  • Speakers control recording permissions for their individual talks
  • Some areas may be designated as "no photo zones"

Recording Talks & Workshops

Default Policy: NO RECORDING

  • Audio/Video Recording: Prohibited unless speaker explicitly permits
  • Photography: Ask speaker permission before photographing slides
  • Live Streaming: Not permitted without prior written approval
  • Note Taking: Always permitted (written or typed)

Speaker Permissions

Each speaker will indicate their recording preferences:

  • 🔴 Red Badge/Slide: NO photos, NO recording, NO streaming
  • 🟡 Yellow Badge/Slide: Photos OK, NO recording/streaming
  • 🟢 Green Badge/Slide: Photos and recording permitted

When in doubt, assume NO recording is permitted.

Attendee Photography Guidelines

DO:

  • Ask permission before photographing individuals
  • Respect "no photo" badges or lanyards
  • Take general crowd shots from a distance
  • Share photos responsibly on social media
  • Delete photos if someone requests it

DON'T:

  • Photograph people without consent
  • Record talks without explicit permission
  • Photograph screens, badges, or laptops showing sensitive information
  • Use flash photography during presentations
  • Post photos that could compromise someone's privacy or security

Official Event Photography

Hackers Guild Pittsburgh may:

  • Employ official photographers (clearly identified with badges)
  • Take photos for social media and promotional materials
  • Photograph general event activities and crowd shots
  • Record select talks WITH speaker permission

Privacy Badges

We provide privacy indicator badges at registration:

  • 🚫 "No Photos" Badge: Do not photograph this person
  • "Photos OK" Badge: General photos acceptable
  • 🤝 "Ask First" Badge: Request permission before photographing

Social Media Sharing

When sharing on social media:

  • Use hashtag #GuildCon2025 for public posts
  • Don't tag individuals without permission
  • Avoid posting sensitive technical details from talks
  • Respect requests to remove photos
  • Consider blurring faces in crowd shots

CTF & Workshop Specifics

CTF Tournament:

  • No photography of challenge screens or solutions
  • Team photos permitted with consent
  • Winner photos may be used for promotion

Workshops:

  • Recording typically prohibited due to hands-on nature
  • Screen photography not permitted
  • Instructor determines photo policy

Enforcement & Violations

Violations of this policy may result in:

  • Request to delete photos/recordings
  • Confiscation of recording equipment
  • Removal from the event
  • Ban from future Guild Con events

Media & Press

Professional media must:

  • Register as press and obtain media badges
  • Coordinate with organizers before the event
  • Respect all speaker and attendee preferences
  • Not disrupt presentations or activities

Your Rights

As an attendee, you have the right to:

  • Opt-out of official photography (notify staff)
  • Request removal of your image from our materials
  • Report policy violations to event staff
  • Wear a "no photo" indicator

Special Accommodations

If you have specific privacy or safety concerns:

  • Contact us before the event to discuss accommodations
  • We can provide additional privacy measures if needed
  • Speak with registration staff for "no photo" areas
